  • Born in Keyser, Mineral County, West Virginia.
  • Raised across the Potomac River in Westernport, Maryland,
  • Graduated St. Peter’s High School, Westernport, Maryland.
  • B.S. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology Studies, Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.
  • Taught ninth grade science at Cabin John Jr. High School, Potomac, MD.
  • Taught middle school science at Sidney Lanier Intermediate School, Fairfax, VA.
  • Taught fifth and Sixth grade science at Sacred Heart Grade School, Charleston, WV.
  • Volunteer for "Violence on View", a program which monitored video preferences among junior high school students in Kanawha County.
  • Promoted passage of a bill to require labeling video cassettes which have not been rated with “NR” (not rated).
  • Served in many capacities with the West Virginia Youth Symphony, especially grant-writing and fund-raising.
  • Helps junior class plan and execute prom each year.
