Sacred Heart grade school website: http://www.shgs.us/ Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral website: http://www.shccwv.us/ Charleston Catholic High School is an integral part of the Sacred Heart Parish. Many students and their families are active members of Sacred Heart Parish. Many children have been a part of our school system as far back as pre-school. Our grade school (Sacred Heart) is comprised of grades preschool through 5th, and the middle/high school (Charleston Catholic) is comprised of grades 6th through 12th. Our school has played an important role in our community as well as in others. Every year we participate, with our church, in a secret santa project we call "The Clay County Project". In this project each student receives the name of a needy child along with that child's needs and wants for Christmas. Students also bring in various food items to suppliment the families holiday meals. After everything is ready we transport it all to Clay County and have a Christmas party where the children get to take pictures with Santa and open presents. Our church has an active youth group with which many of our students are involved. Our priest is Monsignor Sadie, who has been a part of Sacred Heart since 1980, recently renovated the church by adding a new wing to increase our worship space. Our church was originally built in 1869, it was a small space that our parishioners quickly outgrew. |
